Happy Halloween!

A few years ago I learned about royal icing and have been addicted to it ever since.  Royal icing creates a smooth finish on cookies and can be used for other decorating purposes as well.

I use the Wilton recipe for royal icing: 3 tablespoons of Meringue powder,
                                                         1 lb. of confectioners sugar,
                                                         8-10 tablespoons of lukewarm water

You will want to mix on a low-medium speed until icing is blended.  You can color your icing by mixing in Wilton icing coloring. To outline cookies, you will need a piping bag with a round decorating tip.  If you find the icing needs to be thinned, simply add more water.  You want the consistency of the icing to be thicker for outlining cookies and thinner for filling in cookies

Hope you have a fun Halloween!!!
